Europlacer’s placement machines utilise unique, truly intelligent feeder technology. The machine or the offline programming station communicates via RS232 links with the intelligent feeders. All feeders are fitted with LED indicators that will be used to inform the operator about feeders required for the next batch.
The first target of this option is to facilitate the new product introduction from a programming station; preparing the machine loading for the next job without interrupting the production.
To do so, the program items that are needed are searched on the machine and on the external storage zones connected. This option allows a communication with the machines available on the line. After the initialisation or the scanning of the feeder present on the machine, the programming station gets an image of the machine loading configuration into its database.
2 versions of set-up help are available:
Feeder interface:
The feeder interface (also called white box) has 4 XLR sockets for the feeder connections (external zones) and a male DB 25 socket for the 4 ports serial link with the PC. It has its own power supply through a mains plug, so it is also able to supply the power to the trolleys or storage zones connected.

Operation:
The operator selects, from the offline programming station, the new program ‘B’ to run on the production line.

The feeders that are connected either on the machines or on the storage racks and trolleys connected to the “white box” can be highlighted. Components not loaded are listed so feeders can be prepared whilst job ‘A’ is still running.

The "Status" column displays the results by 3 different colours Planned configuration / Real configuration:
The status is red if the machine, the head or the quantity does not match with the planned configuration
The status is orange when the conditions above are respected, but the zone, the slot or the type of feeder planned do not match with the theoretical configuration.
The status is green : the real configuration matches with the planned configuration.
The article is absent from the real configuration.
The operator can switch on the LED of feeders needed or not. Indicated feeders are then moved onto the machine. Job ‘B’ can then start production. The system allows as well, to re-optimise a placement program based on the real feeder configuration on the machines; to search and find items; do automatic programming of the feeders/trolleys.
