Almost all feeders require a leader tape, to handle short tapes the idea could be to use peeler blade but you will still loose few components when removing the half empty reel from the feeder as they are not covered anymore by the cover film. you have also to select the right peeler blade for the right tape, which may be a bit challenging in the inventory.
